Mount Saint Mary Athletics Hall of Fame
Tara McDermott was a standout on the Women's Soccer team for four seasons, helping build the Knights into an annual contender for the Skyline Conference Crown. Teammates with fellow 2019 inductee Jacquelyn Mancini, the duo helped set the standard for Mount Saint Mary Women's Soccer.

Over Tara's four-year career, Mount Saint Mary posted an impressive 63-24-2 overall record and a sterling 30-4 mark against Skyline Conference opponents. The Knights set the program's record for most wins, 18, and best overall record, 18-4-1, during her sophomore season and went on the appear in four Skyline Conference Championship games and three ECAC semifinals.

In addition to producing 25 points on the strength of six goals and 13 assists, McDermott made her mark on the backline for the Knights. She was a four-time First Team All-Skyline Conference selection as a defender and earned Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior in 2013. In addition to these Skyline Conference accolades, Tara was named the MSMC Female Athlete of the Year and ECAC Division III Metro Division Defensive Player of the Year following her senior campaign.

Among Tara's favorite memories, she lists being able to get to campus early as a Fall student-athlete, bonding on the night's before games and enjoying Coach Martini's homemade pizza and the team's trip to Italy in 2012.

"We had the entire campus to ourselves during preseason with no distractions and plenty of time for us to bond with our team (and other fall teams) and get to know each other," recalled McDermott.

Among Tara's proudest moments during her standout career she recalls going to four straight Skyline Conference finals, posting three straight 8-0-0 conference seasons, being named what is now United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Region in 2013 and going unscored upon in Skyline Conference play twice during her career.

Tara graduated from the Mount in 2014 and went on to complete her Master's in Fashion Management from Laboratory Institute of Merchandising. Tara currently works at Vogue Magazine and still is active in soccer, playing in various teams in the New York Metro Area.

Tara currently resides in Jersey City, N.J. with her boyfriend and former Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer standout Sean Lockwood.
