Mount Saint Mary College Athletics

Chelsea Dexter helped lead the Mount Saint Mary Softball program to the top of the Skyline Conference, leading the team to the first of three-straight conference championships in 2016 and driving in the game winning run in the Mount's first ever NCAA Tournament victory.
 
After transferring to the Mount, Dexter put together two of the finest seasons in program history. She hit .410 over 50 games played, driving in 42 runs, recording 76 total bases, slugging .590 and posting an on-base percentage of .506.
 
Dexter was named All-Skyline Conference in both of her seasons as a Knight, earning First Team accolades in 2015 and being recognized as a Second Team honoree in 2016. In her Second Team season, Dexter finished the season hitting .422 and drove in the deciding runs in a 3-2 win over Worcester State in the NCAA Tournament with a two-run single.
 
Dexter's lists leading the team in batting average, on-base percentage and fielding percentage as important achievements in her career, but notes "My best memories come from the relationships I built with my team and coaches through all the long bus rides, wins and losses. That field became our home and I loved spending my college years being a part of the Knight athletic family."
 
Dexter adds, "Being a student-athlete helped teach me balance between education and the sport I love, as well as the importance of teamwork. Working as a nurse in a hospital, we've had to rely on each other to get through this pandemic and I often reflect on my time with my team and how we always had each other's backs even during the hard times.
 
Upon graduation from the Mount, Dexter went on to pursue an accelerated nursing degree from the College of New Rochelle. Currently, she is working and an Ortho/Trauma RN at Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y.
