NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Former baseball player Matt Hallock was inducted as a member of the Mount Saint Mary College Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, April 17, 2015.

Hallock is one of the most decorated players in the Mount Saint Mary baseball program’s history and was part of one of the most successful runs the team has ever had. In 1998, Hallock’s senior season, the Knights earned a berth into the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament, making them the first team to qualify for the NCAA Tournament in Mount Saint Mary history.

Hallock was a four-time Skyline Baseball All-Conference Team member, four-time Knickerbocker All-Conference Team member, Skyline Rookie of the Year in 1995, ABCA New York Region First Teamer in 1998, NCAA New York Region All-Tournament Team member in 1998 and a Division III All-American Honorable Mention in 1998.

The Knights went 96-47 during Hallock’s four years on campus. The team won four-consecutive Skyline Conference Championships and finished as the Knickerbocker Conference runner-up in 1995 and 1996. Hallock finished second in the nation with a .518 batting average in 1998, and 11th in the country in walks with 0.97 per game. He still holds the Mount Saint Mary records for batting average in a single season (.518), on-base percentage in a single season (.616) and career on-base percentage (.473). He hit .382 over his career, scored 124 runs and picked up 122 RBI.

One of Hallock’s proudest moments was when the 1998 baseball team received a bid into the NCAA Tournament, which was to be played in his hometown of Albany, N.Y. Another proud moment was the final regular season game of his senior year, when the Knights took on Division II SUNY Albany and beat them on their own field.

Hallock credits Dr. Virginia Davidson for much of his success and his best memories at the Mount. He says her dedication, mentorship and willingness to help him stay focused on his studies will never be forgotten.

Hallock is currently employed as the Lead Government Recruiter for Kforce Government Solutions (KGS) in Tampa, Fla. KGS supplies technical and finance and accounting staffing solutions to various government related agencies across the country. He is married to fellow Mount Saint Mary alumni Nadia Palma ’98. They have two children, Sophia and Jackson.
