Curtis Britt Turner had a stellar career for the Knights on the basketball court and made possibly a bigger impact to the Mount community off the floor.

In addition to leading the Knights in steals with 6.5 per game during the 1987-88 season following the rehab of a knee injury, Curtis scored the ball for the then Blue Knights, finishing second on the team with 14 points per game. During his senior campaign at the Mount, he led the team in scoring on his way to being named an Honorable Mention All-American.

Curtis’ reach on campus went much further than the basketball court as he served in several leadership roles outside of athletics. He was the President of the Black Student Union and the Resident Living Council, served as Resident Assistant during the HEOP Summer Orientation Program, was a member of the College Ambassador Club, was named to the Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities list and maintained a high academic standard in being named to the Dean’s List.

The culmination of his hard work and leadership skills was ‘Curtis Britt’ day at the Mount in which he was honored for his devotion to the institution. The day concluded with a ceremony at the evening’s home game.

Of all his accomplishments both on and off the court at Mount Saint Mary, he notes the 20-11 record the team posted during his freshman season and the eight game winning streak to start his senior year as some of his most memorable.

“Being a student-athlete prepared me for my graduate studies at Binghamton University and helped to develop my leadership skills and communication skills in the workplace and as a business owner,” stated Britt Turner.

Upon graduation from the Mount, Curtis went on earn his M.B.A and an M.A. in education and Leadership from Binghamton in 1994. He has been married to his wife, Kathleen, for 17 years and is currently conducting after school and summer camp programs in the Queens and Long Island areas for students in grades K-12. The programs provide academic enrichment in all subject areas as well as recreational activities and college tours for middle school and high school students.
