Dr. William Lahar helped begin the Athletic Department at Mount Saint Mary College as one of the first Athletic Directors and along with fellow 2019 inductee Dr. Thomas Sarro helped shape the department into what it is today.
 
Dr. Lahar graduated from Stonehill College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and went on to receive a Ph.D. in Physical Inorganic Chemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1975 after serving two years in the United States Army from 1969-71.
 
Dr. Lahar began his tenue at Mount Saint Mary College in 1975 and is currently in his 45th year at the institution as a Professor of Chemistry. He became a Co-Athletic Director with Dr. Sarro and served as the Men's Basketball Coach from 1976-78.
 
Dr. Lahar, a Vietnam Veteran, has four children, Amanda Hansen, William (Chip) Lahar, Kevin Lahar and Christopher Lahar and nine grandchildren.
