Mount Saint Mary Athletics Hall of Fame
NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Former women’s basketball player Jamie (Bruzzi) Murphy was inducted as a member of the Mount Saint Mary College Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
Jamie (Bruzzi) Murphy was one of the most prolific scorers in Mount women's basketball history. She finished her career as the program leader in career points, and still ranks second all-time with 1,590 points in her four-year career. She also ranks fourth all-time with 640 rebounds. She owns seven program records, including most points in single game (37, Dec. 11, 1995 vs. Centenary), single season (572), most points per game in a single season (20.4), most points per game for her career (16.9), field goals made in a single game (18, Dec. 11, 1995 vs. Centenary), field goals made in a single season (252) and field goals made in her career (713).
Murphy is a Registered Nurse working as a Visiting Nurse for the Western Connecticut Health Network. She has been a floor nurse at Danbury Hospital for 13 years. She is married to her husband, Michael Murphy, who also graduated from the Mount in 1996. They have two sons, Liam Daniel and Braden Michael. Some of her proudest moments as a Knight are starting as a freshman, reaching the 1,000-point milestone and breaking the all-time program scoring record.
