Delor Johnson had a huge impact on the Men's Basketball program over a four-year career, posting better than 1,700 points and securing nearly 900 rebounds for the Knights.

Johnson finished his career averaging 19.3 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per contest for the Knights. He secured a career-high 313 rebounds as a senior during the 1990-91 season, including 129 offensive caroms. In addition to scoring and rebounding, Johnson closed his career with 103 assists and 99 steals for the Knights.

Johnson's career with the Knights started with a bang as he poured in 20 first half points in his first collegiate game against New Paltz that included a half court buzzer beater.

Of his successes on the court, Johnson lists being a Co-Captain and scoring 40 points and hauling in 18 rebounds in a collegiate game as important achievements and recalls being ranked nationally in scoring and rebounding along with being interviewed by the local newspaper for his standout play as proud moments while at the Mount.

"As a freshman, I was not able to continue playing the second part of the basketball schedule..  Not being able to travel or practice with the team was very difficult to handle and I felt I let teammates and myself down.  I worked extremely hard to balance schoolwork and basketball and my discipline helped me to become NCAA eligible going forward and achieve a college diploma from Mount Saint. Mary College," stated Johnson on what being a student-athlete did for him.

"Coach Joe McGuiness and Dean Harry Steinway, I thank them for my college career and for taking the chance on me.  They were supportive and cared about the players and always wanted the Best out of you and for you!  Coach Joe McGuiness was an extension of my father away from home," recalls Johnson.

Personally, Johnson and his college sweetheart, Karema Wyche-Johnson, are happily married and have raised three children: Nadira, Samarah and Delor, who is being recruited by Mid Major Division I programs to play basketball.

After working for a non-profit organization that helped homeless and abused women and children and being a small business owner in Newburgh, Johnson currently works for the Reed Group as a Disability Case Manager responsible for handling over 200 employees who are employed by various Texas State agencies.
