NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Former baseball player and head coach Matthew Dembinsky was inducted as a member of the Mount Saint Mary College Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 5, 2014.

Matthew Dembinsky made some of the largest contributions to the Mount baseball team in the program's history. He was a three-time New York All-Region Team member, a four time All-Skyline and All-Knickerbocker Conference Team member as a pitcher and designated hitter, one of four players to be named All-Conference for both pitching and hitting, the Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Year in 1996 and 1997 and the starting pitcher for two conference championships.

Dembinsky also served as the Knights' head coach for eight seasons and an assistant for four. He was the fifth youngest head coach in the country at 27 years old when he took over in 2002. In this time, he won a Skyline and Knickerbocker Conference Championships, coached a nationally ranked team, made an NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2003 and he was named Skyline Conference Coach of the Year and NCAA Division III New York Region Coach of the Year. He still holds the program record with 32 wins in a season. He coached a Division III All-American, 13 ABCA New York All-Region selections, three conference Players of the Year, one conference Pitcher of the Year, one conference Rookie of the year, 16 First-Team All-Conference selections, 20 Second-Team All-Conference selections, and six ECAC Metro Region All-Star selections.

Dembinsky currently serves as the Student-Athlete Recruiter for Mount Saint Mary College admissions and also lends a hand at various athletic events. Matt has two twin daughters, Alexandra and Samantha. One of his proudest moments as a student-athlete was starting the 1994 Knickerbocker Conference Championship Game at Shea Stadium as a freshman and throwing a five-hit shutout to beat John Jay College, 1-0.
