Mount Saint Mary Athletics Hall of Fame
Joe Bell, a local product and Newburgh Free Academy alumni, finished an impressive career at Mount Saint Mary by starting every game he appeared in as a Knight. He started 147 games for Mount Saint Mary from 2001-04 and helped his teams to a 95-53 (.642) overall record and a 56-27 (.675) mark against conference opponents.

Joe hit .356 over a stellar four year career for Mount Saint Mary, recording 185 hits, 42 doubles, 128 RBI, 264 total bases, a .509 slugging percentage and a .411 on-base percentage. His mark for doubles stands as the career mark for Mount Saint Mary.

Individually, Joe was made an All-Knickerbocker Conference selection three times and was named All-Skyline Conference in all four seasons he competed, including being made a First Team pick in 2001, 2003 and 2004. He was made a Division III ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region Third Team selection in both 2003 and 2004 and landed on the ECAC Division III Metro Second Team in 2004.

In 2003, Joe helped the Knights claim both the Knickerbocker and Skyline Conference Championships, as the Mount advanced to the NCAA Tournament, posting one win as a five seed in the tournament. The Knights finished the season ranked #21 in the country after going 32-8, posting the program's record for victories in a season. The 2003 team and what it accomplished are listed as Joe's proudest moments as a student-athlete at Mount Saint Mary.

Upon graduation from Mount Saint Mary, Joe pursued a career in law enforcement, attending the New York City Police Academy and serving with the NYPD for just over a year. Joe just completed his ninth full year with the Town of New Windsor Police Department.Â
