Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team continues a four match home stand on Saturday with a pair of Skyline Conference contests. The Knights will take on St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at 11:00 a.m. and will close the day with a contest against Sarah Lawrence at 3:00 p.m.
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary is coming off a 3-0 sweep of Brooklyn on Wednesday for its second home win in as many outings at the Kaplan Center. Five Knights registered at least seven kills against the Bulldogs, with
Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and
Angelia Cirigliano (Newburgh, N.Y.) leading the way with eight winners apiece as the Mount hit a season-high .205 as a team.
Senior
Kristen Maddock (Medford, N.Y.) and sophomore
Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) each finished with 18 assists and freshman
Madelyn Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) led the Knights with 12 digs.
Heading into Saturday's action, Sabatini paces the Knights with 91 kills and is second on the team with 15 service aces. Cirigliano has recorded a team-high 16 service aces, while Barberan leads the way with 153 digs, good for just over three per set.
Freshman
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) is one of two Knights with at least 20 blocks on the season, pacing the squad with 26 and Maddock has handed out 262 assists to lead the team, good for 6.55 per set.
Breaking Down The Bears: St. Joseph's comes to town at 3-2 overall on the season and 1-1 in league action, posting a conference victory over Yeshiva and falling to Farmingdale State last Sunday. In their last outing, the Bears scored a 3-0 win over Staten Island in which Elizabeth Quahliero and Nina DiCioccio paced the team with seven kills.
DiCioccio leads the team coming into the weekend with 27 kills, while Quahliero is tied for the team lead in total blocks with Brianna Marrazzo with four. Alanna Palomino enters the weekend's action as the team leader in assists with 89 and digs with 34.
Getting To Know The Gryphons: Sarah Lawrence heads to the Kaplan Center 6-3 overall and 1-0 in league play and is coming off a sweep of King's (N.Y.) on Thursday. Francesca Kohani led all players in the match with 13 kills, hitting .381, with C.J. Kelley handing out a match-high 24 assists.
Through nine matches in 2016, Sarah Lawrence is led by 109 kills from Kohani and 25 service aces as well as 184 assists from Kelley. Lauren Kilroy is tops on the team coming into Saturday's action with 102 digs.
What's Next: Following its first two Skyline Conference matches of the season, the Knights will close out a season-long four match home stand on Tuesday when it plays host to Rutgers-Newark.
