Men’s Basketball Welcomes Greensboro College To The Kaplan Center

Knights and Pride tip-off at 5:00 p.m.

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team returns to action at the Kaplan Center on Friday evening when it welcomes non-conference foe Greensboro College to Newburgh. Live Stats will be available for those who cannot attend the 5:00 p.m. tip-off.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Friday's contest at 4-3 overall and at 1-1 in home games after posting a 53-49 non-conference win over Utica on December 10. Gerard Nocera (Holmdel, N.J.) paced the Mount with 19 points and classmate Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) rounded out the game with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.
 
After scoring in double-figures in each of the team's last five games, Nocera leads the way in scoring thus far with 14.0 points per outing for the Mount. Wolff is registering 11.3 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game heading into Friday's tilt.
 
Junior Tyler McDine (Suffern, N.Y.) leads the way with 3.1 assists per game and holds an 81.4-percent mark from the free-throw line, leading the team in makes (35) and attempts (43) through seven games played. Connor Bacci (Bayside, N.Y.) holds the team lead in steals with 10, while classmate T.J. Patsalos (Newburgh, N.Y.) has blocked a team-high five shots.
 
Heading into Friday's game, the Mount is averaging 68.0 points per game and is shooting 38.8-percent from the floor and 77.2-percent as a team from the free-throw line. The Knights lead the Skyline Conference in free-throw percentage and rank second in the league in three-point field goal percentage defense at 30.5-percent.
 
Previewing the Pride: Greensboro comes to town at 4-2 overall on the season and has scored 100 points in two of its previous three outings. The Pride is coming off a 103-68 win over Johnson and Wales on December 7 in which six players registered double-figures. Zedric Bennet paced the team with 18 points, while Lorenzo Marry and Donovan Griffith each posted a double-double. Marry finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Griffith wrapped up the game with 10 points and 13 boards for Greensboro who shot 54.5-percent from the field in the win.
 
The Pride feature four players averaging in double-figures through six games, led by 13.8 points per game from Joseph Gatling. Griffith is good for 13.5 points per game, while Darus Maddox and Marry contribute 10.8 and 10.0 points per game respectively. In all, Greensboro has seven players a averaging at least six points per outing.
 
Griffith leads the way on the glass for the Pride with 8.8 caroms per game and is tied for the team lead in assists with Gatling with 2.7 helpers per game. Gatling leads the team with 14 steals through six games and is the team's top three-point threat with 14 triples on the season.
 
Greensboro is averaging 84.3 points per game, outscoring its opponents by 14 points per game. The Pride is shooting better than 43-percent from the floor as a team and are good for 15.5 assists per game.
 
What's Next: Following Friday's contest, the Mount will be off until December 30 when it travels to Hunter for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off with the Hawks.
