Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary College looked to upset the top team in the Skyline, Yeshiva University, and give them their first loss in Skyline play. The Knights' defense got off to a strong start in the first half, holding the Maccabees to 35.71% from the field and 23.08% from three. Down 13-7,
JP Egan and
Kaleb Eller would spark a 13-0 run from the Mount to give them the lead. Eller had his best game in an MSMC uniform, scoring 11 points and going a perfect 4-4 from the field. The Knights took advantage of Yeshiva's turnovers, scoring 20 points off 18 forced turnovers, as Mount Saint Mary entered halftime up 27-24.
The second half would tell a different tale, with Yeshiva's offense finally warming up, as they more than doubled their first-half point total. The Maccabees scored 10 unanswered points to open up the half, as the Knights struggled to account for their off-ball movement. Mount Saint Mary hung around for the rest of the second period, cutting Yeshiva's lead to single digits on multiple occasions, but the Maccabees' hot start made it difficult for the Knights to come back. Yeshiva would end up defeating the Mount 73-60, as the Knights will celebrate its seniors this Saturday against Sarah Lawrence.
