Mount Saint Mary College traveled to play its last road game of the season at the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins opened up the game with a quick 7 points, but the Knights responded soon thereafter.
JP Egan, who tied his career-high with 21 points this game, knocked down a three to tie the game, as part of a 9-0 team run to take a 14-10 lead. The Knights looked to attack the paint continuously this game, as they attempted 19 free throws in the first half and 21 in the second. They would shoot just 57.5% from the line as a team, which would prove to be crucial down the stretch. The three-ball was falling for the Dolphins in the first half, as they shot 9-18, allowing them to gain a 47-35 lead heading into the half.
JP Egan would score 7 points in the first 4 and a half minutes of the second period, as the Knights exploded for 49 points in the half. Although Mount Saint Mary improved its offense in the second half, the Dolphins also managed to put up 48 points of their own.
Justin Rivera was great at distributing the ball this game, recording a career-best 6 assists. 5 straight points from
Liam Lynch, followed by an assist to a
Kaleb Eller three, put the Knights to within striking distance as Mount Saint Vincent now led just 61-55. Just when the Knights got close, the Dolphins quickly built upon their lead in the blink of an eye. Mount Saint Mary 17 with just over 6 minutes to go. The Knights would come storming back, as a
Matthew Walsh three made it a 5-point game with 2 minutes to go. Although they made things interesting, Mount Saint Mary was unable to come away with a victory as Mount Saint Vincent won 95-84.
