NEWBURGH, N.Y.- The Mount Saint Mary College (8-2, 4-0 Skyline) men's soccer team defeated Maritime College (4-5-2, 1-1-1 Skyline), 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Kaplan Field to claim its fourth Skyline Conference game.
It was a scoreless first half until senior midfielder Christian Redl (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) had a buzzer-beating goal, which proved to be the game winner. At the last second Redl got the ball and beat the goalkeeper to the far right corner.
Sophomore forward Michael Ennis (Carmel, N.Y.) scored in the 65th minute of play when junior forward Matt Garcia (Wappingers Falls, N.Y) shot the ball that was saved by Maritime goalkeeper Karl Weber, and on the rebound, Ennis put the ball in the back of the net. Coming off the bench, senior forward Sean Barton (Wallkill, N.Y.) netted the ball in the 88th minute when he shot it from just in front of the midfield line into a goal that was unattended by the goalkeeper, sending the Knights to a 3-0 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Matt Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.) had three saves in the shutout. Weber had seven saves in the loss.
The Knights outshot the Privateers 29-8.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday, October 8, when they travel to The Sage Colleges for a Skyline Conference contest. Game time is set for 8:30 pm. Â
