KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Men's swimming competed at the United States Merchant Marine Academy for the Skyline Conference Championship meet this weekend, finishing in third place with a total of 230 points. The Knights placed behind SUNY Maritime in second with 296 points, USMMA in first with 1,052, and ahead of St. Joseph's University Long Island in fourth (140) and Sarah Lawrence College in fifth (7).
Over the course of the meet, the Knights consistently achieved personal best times, top-three finishes in relays and successful touch-outs against competitors on their finishes.
Day One Recap
The Knights left the meet's first session having 100% best times on the board.
The meet started with the 200-yard medley relay, where
Marcus Innamorato,
Joseph Scarola,
Michael D'Ambrosio and
Paul D'Ambrosio took third place with a time of 1:39.49.
In the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Innamorato was first to the wall among the Knights, in ninth place with a time of 5:42.31. Just behind him was fellow freshman Scarola in tenth (5:43.84) and sophomore
Kyle Giuliano in 11th at 5:44.09. All three had significant time drops in the event.
Junior
Michael D'Ambrosio took seventh place in the 200-yard individual medley and a time of 2:14.54. Freshman
Paul D'Ambrosio followed in 10th place, coming in at 2:25.66.

Ethan Taranto and Innamorato swam to third place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.80.
Day Two Recap
On day two, the Knights continued racking up personal best times and strong finishes.

Ethan Taranto and Scarola took third in the 400-yard medley relay, coming in at 4:04.48.
In the 400-yard individual medley,
Michael D'Ambrosio had a fifth place finish at 5:04.19, followed by Taranto in seventh (5:12.20) and
Paul D'Ambrosio in ninth (5:30.23).
Scarola swam to ninth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.81, just before Innamorato in 10th place at 2:05.40.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Paul D'Ambrosio earned 10th place, hitting the wall at 1:10.21.
Taranto took seventh place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with 11:41.57. Scarola was just behind him in eighth place (11:46.92), and Innamorato came in ninth (11:56.63). Each had time drops of at least 15 seconds.
In the 200-yard backstroke,
Michael D'Ambrosio picked up a fourth place finish at a time of 2:19.81, before Giuliano in fifth (2:21.32) and Innamorato in seventh at 2:30.98.
Scarola came in fifth place with 2:35.85 in the 200-yard breaststroke, just ahead of
Michael D'Ambrosio in sixth (2:38.01) and
Paul D'Ambrosio in seventh (2:38.84).
Taranto swam the 200-yard butterfly to 9th place, coming in at 2:22.68. Giuliano followed in 10th at 2:35.05.
Lastly, the Mount men closed out the meet in the 400-yard freestyle relay, placing third with
Michael D'Ambrosio, Innamorato, Scarola and Giuliano (3:43.04).
Men's swimming now looks ahead to the Metropolitan Conference Championship meet to close out their season, which will take place at Rutgers University from Feb. 12-15.
