Lerner Breaks 19-year-old Mount Record, Earns Senior Recognition

PISCATAWAY N.J. — Men's swimming closed out their season this weekend with a sixth-place finish at the Metropolitan Conference Championship meet, held at Rutgers University. The three-day competition was filled with lifetime best times and season's best swims for every Knight. Each Knight qualified to appear in finals throughout the weekend, as well. The team left Metros with 437 points, which is the highest total earned at this championship in program history.

In addition to the team's success, senior Jackson Lerner was selected for the Dick Krempecki Outstanding Senior Award, which recognizes a senior's contributions to their institution, team, and participation at the Metropolitan Conference Championship. Lerner also set a new 50-yard butterfly record for the college, previously set at 25.02 by Matt Peters in 2006 (tied by Enrique Naudy in 2009). Lerner broke this record with a thrilling 24.49 in the event this weekend.
