KINGS POINT, N.Y. — The women's swim team traveled to Kings Point, N.Y. on Friday for a Skyline Conference Quad Meet against the United States Merchant Marine Academy, SUNY Maritime and St. Joseph's College Long Island. The Knights took home two wins against SUNY Maritime (150-54) and SJLI (126-107), and a loss to USMMA (181-66).
The night started with a second-place swim for the Knights' 200-yard medley relay team of
Stefanie Sommer,
Ruvarashe Gondo, Cayla Nicholas and
Antonia Licardi. Licardi's freestyle leg gave the team a late surge, touching out a Merchant Marine swimmer for a time of 2:06.64.
Sommer finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:38.22) and the 1,000-yard freestyle, coming in at 13:23.60.
Licardi took second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.40) and the 50-yard freestyle at a time of 26.06. She then picked up third in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:31.16.
Nicholas had second and third place finishes in her 100-yard freestyle (1:00.74) and 200-yard butterfly (2:53.78), respectively. She also earned second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.56).
Mainiero picked up second in the 500-yard freestyle at 6:22.17, then fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.63) and 100-yard freestyle (1:03.16).
Gondo placed third in her 200-yard breaststroke (3;10.36) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.94).
Sommer, Mainiero, Nicholas and Licardi finished out the meet with second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay at 4:22.37.
