BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — Women's swimming headed to Yonkers, N.Y. Saturday for a meet against Sarah Lawrence College and the College of Staten Island. The Knights had some tough competition and ultimately lost to both teams, with a final score of 140-43 against Sarah Lawrence and 134-41 against the College of Staten Island.
Angelina Mainiero had the highest finish for the Knights, taking second place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:23.61. She went on to finish fourth int he 100-yard freestyle (1:03.41)
Stefanie Sommer finished just after Mainiero in the 1,000-yard freestyle, placing third at 13:45.69. She also had a fourth-place swim in the 200-yard backstroke (2:41.59).
Cayla Nicholas picked up third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:48.13, before swimming to fifth in the 200-yard backstroke at a time of 2:49.50.
Kate Cerven earned fifth in the 100-yard freestyle, coming in at 1:09.21.
Ruvarashe Gondo placed fifth in the 400-yard individual medley (6:40.00), and sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:13.39).
Up next, the Knights will head to Kings Point, N.Y. on Friday for a match-up with the United States Merchant Marine Academy, SUNY Maritime, St. Joseph's University Long Island.
