Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team begins play in the 2018 Skyline Conference Championship on Wednesday night when it travels to the top seeded Mariners from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. At A Glance: The Knights dropped three of their final five regular season outings, including a 16-5 loss at the hands of USMMA on April 24. The Mount enters Wednesday's contest at 7-7 overall on the season and after having won four of its six conference contests in 2018.
Senior
Christina Ryan (Franklin Square, N.Y.) leads the Mount Saint Mary scoring attack heading in Wednesday, finding the back of the net a career-high 45 times. She leads the team in goals and with 54 points to go along with 14 groundballs and five caused turnovers.
Liz Halpin (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) has put together a strong rookie campaign for the Mount, scoring 24 times and leads the team with 75 draw controls. She is third on the team with 27 points and has picked up 19 groundballs.
Courtney Condron (Franklin Square, N.Y.) paces the Mount with 13 assists and has recorded 32 points to date to go along with 15 groundballs and four caused turnovers.
Senior
Morgan Cordes (Sound Beach, N.Y.) anchors the Mount Saint Mary defense and leads the team with 16 caused turnovers and 31 groundballs to go along with 25 draw controls.
Morgan Pavlik (Monroe, Conn.) has chipped in with 22 draws and 19 points with
Maggie Pedersen (Glasco, N.Y.) adding 26 groundballs, 15 caused turnovers and 14 draw controls.
Amanda Picillo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) has seen the bulk of action in goal for the Knights in 2018, playing 721:37 of a possible 842:57. She has made 114 saves and holds a 12.06 goals against average to go along with a .440 save percentage.
Scouting The Mariners: USMMA boasts a pair of 60 goal scorers on the season, led by Jessica Reilly who has potted 63 goals and totaled 73 points. Meredith Willard has scored 61 times and leads the Mariners with 18 assists and 79 points through the regular season. The duo led the Mariners to an unbeaten conference schedule and a 12-2 overall record through the regular season.
Reilly has put together a strong all-around head and has picked up a team-high 77 groundballs on the season and won a team-high 92 draw controls to go along with 58 caused turnovers.
Hannah Gizzi has started all 14 games to date in goal for the Mariners and has made 89 saves. She holds a .489 save percentage and a 7.02 goals against average to go along with 51 groundballs and 24 caused turnovers.
History: The two teams have met just twice prior to Wednesday's contest, including the game on April 24. Each team has won a game, with the Knights victory coming in a 12-9 decision on the road during the 2017 season.
What's At Stake: The winner of Wednesday's game will take on the winner of the St. Joseph's-L.I. and Farmingdale State semifinal on Saturday for the right to represent the Skyline Conference in the NCAA Tournament.
