Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary College looked to clinch the three seed in the Skyline Conference Playoffs with a win against Maritime College. After being eliminated from playoff contention last week, the Privateers came into this game with nothing to lose and managed to catch the Knights off guard. After facing a 1-0 deficit,
Delisianna Naccarato would score the Mount's first goal of the game off a free position shot. Later in the quarter,
Shannon McGowan would find
Kasey Senior for a goal to take a 2-1 lead.
Maritime would tie things up on their opening offensive possession in the second quarter, but
Alejandra De Leon would respond with a woman-up goal assisted by
Shannon McGowan. McGowan reached yet another historic milestone in her senior season, recording her 100th career assist on this play. The Privateers scored a goal with 38 seconds left in the half to tie the game once again.
With the Knights needing a win to clinch the number three seed in the Skyline Playoffs, they had their backs to the wall after Maritime opened up the third quarter with two goals to take a 5-3 lead. Captain and the team's leading scorer,
Delisianna Naccarato, settled the team down with a goal late in the quarter to keep the Mount in the game.
Senior goalie
Peyton Curley was just what the doctor ordered in this game, with arguably her best performance all season. Curley recorded eight crucial saves for a .615 save percentage. Mount Saint Mary took over in the fourth quarter, starting with a
Kasey Senior goal assisted by
Delisianna Naccarato. Naccarato had her fingerprints all over this comeback, forcing key turnovers, winning big-time draw controls, and scoring the game-winning goal with 6:50 left to put the Knights ahead 6-5.
Kaitlin Hansen would help put the game away with a beautiful top-shelf goal to extend their lead. Mount Saint Mary would end up defeating Maritime College 7-5 in their regular-season finale.
The Knights will now host sixth-seeded Mount Saint Vincent at Kaplan Field this Saturday, April 25th, at 2:00 PM.
