Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team will make its second straight appearance in the Skyline Conference Championship when it travels to Maritime for a semifinal contest with the Privateers Wednesday night. At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Wednesday's tilt with a program record 11 victories, including a 4-2 mark against Skyline Conference rivals. The Knights have dropped the last two regular season games of the 2018 season, seeing an eight game winning streak stopped with an 18-9 loss to USMMA in the home finale on April 21.
The Knights feature five players with at least 37 points on the season, led by 81 points from senior
Dylan De Meo (Franklin Square, N.Y.). De Meo has scored 33 times and leads the team with 48 assists to go along with 42 groundballs and 15 caused turnovers. De Meo eclipsed the 300-point plateau against Becker, becoming the first player to reach 300 points in program history.
Fellow senior
Danny Kugler (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) has scored a career and single season program high 56 goals in 2018 and is the career leader in the category for the Knights.
Tristan Earle (Millrift, Pa.) is the Mount's third 30 goal scorer, potting an even 30 tallies heading into Wednesday's tilt and is good for 47 points.
Nicholas Graziano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and
Ryan Maraio (Staten Island, N.Y.) have registered 27 and 24 goals, respectively.
Kenneth Gallagher (Northport, N.Y.) has been a force at the face-off 'x' for the Knights, winning 229 draws to date and posting a .563 winning percentage. Gallagher leads the Mount with 85 groundballs and has added eight goals and five assists.
Freshman
Matthew Martino (Watertown, Conn.) leads the Mount with 20 caused turnovers and has picked up 42 groundballs with junior
Peter Beidl (Clifton Park, N.Y.) causing 16 miscues and scooping 55 groundballs to date.
Senior
Christopher Doerr (Pleasantville, N.Y.) has manned the cage for the Knights throughout the 2018 season and has made 140 saves and holds a 10.92 goals against average. He has registered a .483 save percentage and has picked up 33 groundballs.
A Look At Maritime: The Privateers won their last two regular season games to secure the second seed in the championship, clipping Farmingdale State 10-6 and the Mount 13-12. Maritime enters Wednesday's tilt at 10-4 overall on the season.
Maritime also features a trio of 30 goal scorers, with Matt DeMeo leading the way with 35 goals and 50 points. Nick Pellegrino has tallied 34 times and registered 45 points, while Danny Connell has found the back of the net 32 times and has recorded 12 assists.
Joey Manno has won a team-high 90 face-offs for the Privateers, while Mark Buchner has caused 20 turnovers and picked up 63 groundballs.
Brendan McNally has seen the bulk of action in net for Maritime and has stopped 152 opponent shots. He holds an 8.81 goals against average and a .601 save percentage.
History: The Knights dropped their only other game in program history in the conference championship, falling 26-14 to USMMA a season ago. Against Maritime, the Knights hold a 3-5 record since 2011 with Wednesday's meeting the first between the two side in the conference championship tournament.
What's At Stake: The winner of Wednesday's contest will take on the winner of the USMMA and Farmingdale State semifinal on Saturday for the right to represent the Skyline Conference in the NCAA Tournament.
