Mount Saint Mary College looked to continue its momentum off a big win on Senior Day over St. Joseph's Long Island. The Knights traveled to face Manhattanville in their final road match of the season. The Valiants would score early on to take a 1-0 lead, but
Robby Maurer would find
Hayden Mitchell for the equalizing goal moments later. Freshman fogo
Joseph Corallo continues to dominate this season, not just in the faceoff circle, where he went 11-17 on the game, but also in the field, leading the Mount in points this game with two goals and 1 assist to go along with nine ground balls.
The Knights' defense was holding up well to begin the second quarter, led by goalie
Kenny Leen, who led the way with 18 saves this game. Manhattanville would begin to find some momentum after calling a timeout midway through the quarter. The Valiants scored a goal in the ensuing possession, then followed that up with another three goals this quarter to take a 5-1 lead heading into the half.
Mahttanville added another goal to start off the third quarter to make it five unanswered goals in a row.
Joseph Corallo would take matters into his own hands, taking the ball to the goal himself to make it 6-2. With less than two minutes to go, Manhattanville would score a couple of quick goals to extend their lead to 8-2.
Jake Kannenburg would clear the ball for the Knights in the closing seconds of the third period and score with no time left on the clock to give Mount Saint Mary a spark heading into the fourth.
To start off the quarter,
Robby Maurer would be assisted by
Joseph Corallo, then Corallo would score an unassisted goal of his own to cut the Valiants' lead and make it 8-5. The Knights' comeback would stop here, as they were unable to get anything else going.
