Knights Welcome Ramapo To Kaplan Field Wednesday

Knights coming off season opening loss to Marywood

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team plays its second straight home game to open the 2017 season Wednesday evening when it welcomes non-conference foe Ramapo to Newburgh. The Knights and Roadrunners are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with Live Stats available for those who cannot attend the game.

At A Glance: The Mount heads into Wednesday's game at 0-1 overall after suffering a 19-5 season opening loss to Marywood on March 1. Senior Katie Gattoni (Old Tappan, N.J.) finished the game with three goals and two assists, becoming the program's all-time leader in goals. Sophomore goalie Amanda Picillo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) rounded out the night with a career-high 14 saves.

Through one game in 2017, the Knights feature three different players with at least one goal, led by three from Gattoni. The senior attack also paces the Knights with two assists and five points. Sophomore Maggie Pedersen (Glasco, N.Y.) picked up a team-high three groundballs against the Pacers with Gattoni and Chelsea Henke (Pawling, N.Y.) tied for the team lead with a pair of draw controls each.

Heading into Wednesday's tilt, Gattoni leads the Skyline Conference in goals per game and ranks third in assists per game and points per contest. Picillo leads the conference in saves per game following her career-high save total against Marywood.

Historically Speaking: Gattoni broke the career goals record with her first marker of the game in the season opener and holds the career mark with 173 tallies. She looks to become the first player in program history with 200 goals and is poised to break the career point record during the 2017 season. Currently, Gattoni is three points shy of tying the career mark of 210 and is 10 assists shy of matching the career mark of 44.

Scouting Ramapo: The Roadrunners come calling with a 1-0 overall record after scoring a 15-4 season opening victory over Maritime on March 1. Alyssa Tachon led Ramapo with six goals with Colleen Manley adding five tallies and three caused turnovers.

Gabi Davidson posted a team-high five groundballs against the Privateers, while Nicole Jasco and Katie Duca led the way with three draw controls apiece. Taylor Marcialis picked up the win in goal for the Roadrunners with a trio of stops.

Recent History: The two teams have met every year since 2010 including four times when Ramapo was a member of the Skyline Conference. The Knights hold a 4-3 all-time record against the Roadrunners and have won four of the last five meetings. The lone blemish over the last five contests was an 11-9 road loss in 2016.

What's Next: After two straight home games to open the season, Mount Saint Mary begins the road slate at King's (Pa.) on March 11 and Sweet Briar (Va.) on March 14.
