Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team will take the field again on Tuesday night when it plays host to non-conference foe Kean. Opening Draw with the Cougars is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with Live Stats available for those who cannot attend the game.
At A Glance: Due to weather and field conditions, the Mount has not played since a 14-6 loss to Ramapo on March 8 and stands at 0-2 overall on the season. In their last outing, the Knights were led by four goals from
Katie Gattoni (Old Tappan, N.J.) who moved into first place all-time at the Mount in points with 211.
Gattoni leads the Knights in goals (7), assists (2) and points (9) heading into Tuesday tilt and has won three draw controls.
Morgan Cordes (Sound Beach, N.Y.) paces the Mount in groundballs with six, while
Amanda Clemens (Baldwin, N.Y.) has caused a team-high four turnovers.
In goal, sophomore
Amanda Picillo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) has started both games thus far and played 89:40 of a possible 120:00. She leads the Knights with 21 saves and has chipped in with three groundballs.
Carolyn Smith (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) has appeared in both games and made a pair of stops for the Knights.
Among the conference leaders, Gattoni ranks fourth in both goals per game (3.5) and points per game (4.5), while Clemens ranks tied for second in caused turnovers per outing (2.00). Cordes sits in a tie for fourth in groundballs per game (3.0) and Picillo leads the league in saves per contest (10.5).
Rock Your Socks: For the second season the Women's Lacrosse team has partnered with the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware in support of World Down Syndrome Day, March 21
st. The team has raised over $500 the past two seasons and will Rock their Socks in Tuesday's matchup.
The date for World Down Syndrome Day, being the 21
st day of the 3
rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21
st chromosome which leads to Down Syndrome. For more information visit

There will be a table set up near the bleachers to donate or to purchase your bold and brightly colored mismatched socks and support this wonderful organization.
Previewing Kean: The Cougars have won five of their first six games of the season and are coming off a 17-12 victory over King's (Pa.) on Saturday. Emily Stasuk and Morgan Graham each posted eight points in the game, with Stasuk scoring five times and helping on three goals and Graham potting six goals and helping on two others. Krista LaMaina won seven draw controls in the win and Nikki Apostolopoulos stopped five shots in goal.
Entering Tuesday's matchup, Stasuk leads the team with 19 goals, while Graham has deposited 16 goals to go along with team highs in assists (11) and points (27). Anna Tampellini has scooped 13 groundballs to lead the Cougars with LaMaina pacing the squad with 26 draw controls. Apostolopoulos has played 301:23 of a possible 360:00 in the cage and has registered 19 saves and posted a 7.76 goals against average.
Kean is scoring 16.3 goals per game while allowing just shy of seven markers to per outing. The Cougars have picked up 65 more groundballs than their opponents through six games and have won 24 more draw controls.
Recent History: The Knights and Cougars have played six times dating back to Kean's time as a member of the Skyline Conference. The Cougars hold a 6-0 record against the Knights, including a victory in the 2013 Skyline Conference Championship Tournament and a 17-7 victory last season.
What's Next: Following Tuesday's tilt, the Knights will remain home when they welcome Keuka to Kaplan Field on Saturday afternoon. Opening Draw with the Wolves is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
