Bronxville, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team returned to Skyline Conference competition on Saturday with a 109-87 road win at Sarah Lawrence. The Knights won six events in the meet, including two individual victories from junior
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.).
McNamee continued her strong junior campaign on Saturday with triumphs in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events. She picked up her 200-yard win in a time of 2:04.06 before besting the field in the 500-yard event with a time of 5:42.41.
Freshman
Daley O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored a victory for the Knights in the meet's longest event, swimming a winning time of 20:42.39 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. O'Keefe added a third place finish for the Knights in the 200-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 2:28.99.
Fellow freshman
Katie Barber (Shelton, Conn.) along with senior
Samantha McGregor (Highland Falls, N.Y.) also scored victories for the Knights on Saturday. Barber won the 400-yard individual medley in 5:14.83, while McGregor took the top spot in the 200-yard butterfly, touching out in 2:37.73. Barber added a second place in the 500-yard freestyle with McGregor earning third place points in the 500-yard race.
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) picked up a pair of second place finishes for the Knights in the win, swimming a time of 28.05 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and a time of 1:01.63 in the 100-yard race.
Marissa Catania (Rocky Hill, Conn.) posted a runner-up finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:38.57 and finished third in the 100-yard freestyle race.
Freshman
Shayla McCarroll (Clifton Park, N.Y.) swam to a runner-up finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:24.04, while
Danielle Hughes (Oakville, Conn.) finished a strong day with third place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke.
Mount Saint Mary closed out Saturday's win with a convincing victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Schroeder, McCarroll, O'Keefe and McNamee posted a time of 4:08.13, finishing better than 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher.
Saturday's win improves the Knights to 4-1 overall and 2-0 against Skyline Conference rivals. The Knights return to action on November 18 when they swim in Day One of the Diamond City Invitational in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
