Knights Welcome Mount Saint Vincent, St. Joseph’s-L.I. To Kaplan Field

Knights are winners of last five outings

Newburgh, N.Y. – After a road win at Sarah Lawrence on Sunday evening, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team returns home for a pair of conference clashes this week. The Knights will tangle with the Dolphins from the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday before playing host to St. Joseph's-L.I. for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday afternoon.
 
At A Glance: The Knights have won their last five outings overall to move to 8-2-1 overall on the season and to a clean 2-0-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights have allowed just two goals over the winning streak and are outscoring opponents 35-3 over the run and 51-10 on the season.
 
Senior Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) leads a potent scoring attack with 11 goals, seven assists and 29 points heading into Tuesday's tilt with the Dolphins, while classmate Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) has potted nine goals, including a team-high three game winners, to go along with seven assists for 25 points.
 
Fellow senior Allison Jones (Merrick, N.Y.) is putting together a strong campaign with 18 points on the strength of seven goals and four assists, while Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.), Jessica Lanning (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Theresa Stinson (Troy, N.Y.) have all scored four times for the Mount.
 
In all, Mount Saint Mary has had 12 different players score a goal through the season's first 11 games and have 16 different players with at least one point. The team ranks second in the Skyline Conference in scoring average (4.7) and leads the league in opponent scoring average (1.0).
 
McKeever ranks third in the Skyline Conference in goals and points and is tied with Ribadeneyra atop the league leaders in assists.
 
In goal, Riley has started 10 games and holds a 1.20 goals against average and a .792 save percentage to go along with 38 saves. Riley is tied for fourth in the conference in save percentage and second in the league in goals against average.
 
Last Time Out: The Knights scored their fifth straight win with a 4-0 victory on the road at Sarah Lawrence. Freshman Alexa Franceschi (Red Hook, N.Y.) posted her first multiple goal game and tallied her first game winning goal on the night. She finished with a pair of goals, while Jones posted four points on a goal and two helpers. Freshman Nicolette Wurglics (Glendale, N.Y.) closed out the scoring in the game with her second tally of the season.
 
Cassidy Rykowski (Suffern, N.Y.) made her first career start in goal and picked up her first career shutout without making as save as the Knights outshot the Gryphons 37-0 on the night.
 
Scouting The Dolphins: Mount Saint Vincent comes calling on Tuesday with a 2-6 overall record and an even 1-1 mark in conference play. The Dolphins have dropped their last two outings, a 2-0 loss to Farmingdale State on September 27 and a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Lehman on September 30.
 
Kelly Gibison paces the Dolphins with three goals, while Julia McGowan leads the team with four assists. Each player is tied for the team lead in points with eight and in game winning goals with one each.
 
Elizabeth Martin has started each game in goal for Mount Saint Vincent and holds a 3.37 goals against average and a .556 save percentage while making 30 stops.
 
A Look At The Golden Eagles: St. Joseph's begins the week at 5-4 overall and 2-0 in league play heading into a Tuesday contest with Old Westbury. The Golden Eagles have won three of their last four games, including a 2-0 blanking of St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on September 27.
 
Kristen Carroll broke a scoreless tie in the 69th minute with her second goal of the season, the eventual game winner, with Mackenzie Nyitray put the game away with her third goal of the season with just over eight minutes left in regulation time. Karissa Rutigliano earned the shutout with one save for the Golden Eagles.
 
Through the first nine games of the season, Christina Gagliardi leads the team with 10 goals, four assists and 24 points with Nyitray and Carroll each entering Tuesday's game with four tallies. Juliana Cintron-Leonardo has started eight games in goal and holds a 1.99 goals against average and a .754 save percentage.
 
What's Next: Following back-to-back home games, the Knights will begin a five game road swing on October 11 when they travel to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
