Mount Saint Mary Hosts Utica Saturday Afternoon

Knights enter tilt at 3-3 overall

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team will play just its second home game of the season on Saturday afternoon when it welcomes Utica to the Kaplan Center. Live Stats will be available for those who cannot attend the 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary had a two game run stopped on Tuesday night following a hard fought 66-60 road loss at Manhattanville that dropped it to 3-3 overall on the season. Junior Gerard Nocera (Holmdel, N.J.) was the lone Knight to score in double-figures, netting 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Classmate Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) finished the contest with eight points and led the Mount with nine rebounds and five assists.
 
Heading into Saturday's home game, Nocera and Wolff and leading the team in scoring with 13.2 and 11.3 points per game, respectively. Wolff paces the team with just over five rebounds per outing, while sophomore T.J. Patsalos (Newburgh, N.Y.) is good for 9.3 points and 5.8 boards per contest. Tyler McDine (Suffern, N.Y.) is tops on the team with just over three assists per game and is leading the team in free-throws (30) and free-throws attempted (36), good for an 83.3-percent clip from the charity stripe.
 
Mount Saint Mary is averaging 70.5 points per game as a team and is shooting 79-percenet from the free-throw line as a unit. The Knights enter Saturday's tilt second in the Skyline Conference in scoring defense and tops in the league in field goal percentage defense and free-throw percentage. McDine ranks third in the league in free-throw percentage for those players averaging 2.5 makes per game.
 
Previewing the Pioneers: Utica comes to town winless in seven outings thus far and is coming off a 67-65 road loss at SUNY Canton on Tuesday, with the Roos scoring the game winning bucket with three seconds left in regulation time.
 
Ivan Iton posted a double-double for Utica and led four players in double-figures with 19 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Justin Strielkauskas and Hunter Remley each knocked in a pair of three-pointers on their way to 13 and 12 points, while Jerome Brabham finished with 11 points and three assists.
 
Iton paces the Pioneers through seven games in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.0 points per game and just shy of nine caroms per contest. He is one of four players to average at least eight points per outing and leads the way in field goal percentage, converting at a 45-percent clip.
 
As a team, Utica is averaging 64.7 points per game and is shooting 37-percent from the field. The Pioneers are outrebounded by nearly five boards per game and are averaging better than 11 assists per outing.

What' Next: Following Saturday's tilt with the Pioneers, the Mount will travel to New Paltz on Tuesday before welcoming Greensboro College to the Kaplan Center on December 16.
