Men’s Basketball Travels To Sage For Conference Opener

Knights look to rebound off of loss to Bard on Tuesday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team will return to action on Thursday night when it heads to Sage for its Skyline Conference opener. Live Stats and Video will be available for the those who cannot attend the 7:00 p.m. tip-off in Albany, N.Y.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Thursday's game at 1-2 overall and is coming off a 71-63 home non-conference loss to Bard on Tuesday night. Sophomore Connor Bacci (Bayside, N.Y.) and junior Gerard Nocera (Holmdel, N.J.) led the team with 11 points apiece, with Nocera pacing the team in rebounds with seven. Angelo Accattao (West Haverstraw, N.Y.) came off the bench to lead the team in assists, adding three points and a trio of rebounds.
 
Through the first three games of the season, the Knights have three players averaging in double-figures and a fourth, Nocera, posting 9.7 points per game. Sophomore T.J. Patsalos (Newburgh, N.Y.) is good for a team-high 11.3 points per game, with Tyler McDine (Suffern, N.Y.) following with 11.0 points per night on the strength of a 23-for-26 effort from the free-throw line. Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) is checking in with 10.7 points per outing for the Mount in the early stages of the season.
 
Patsalos also leads the team on the glass with just under seven caroms per game, while McDine is handing out just shy of three assists per game and Andrew Holmes (Niskayuna, N.Y.) is good for just better than one steal per contest.
 
Heading into Thursday's tilt, the Knights are shooting 35-percent from the floor and are averaging 64.7 points per game.
 
Scouting Sage: The Gators open league play with a 2-3 overall record and are coming off an offensive explosion on Tuesday in a 130-98 win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Six Gators scored in double-figures, including 26 points from both Marcus Patterson and Davon Sylvester as Sage shot nearly 70-percent from the floor in the game and better than 54-percent from behind the arc.
Patterson leads Sage through five games in scoring with 20.4 points per game and in rebounding with nine boards per night. He is shooting an even 50-percent from the floor in 29.2 minutes per game.
 
As a team, Sage is averaging over 84 points per game on the strength of Tuesday's 130 point showing and is shooting 45-percent from the floor.
 
Recent History: The Knights hold a 10-4 record over Sage since the start of the 2009-10 season. The Knights won the first 10 meetings with the Gators since they joined the Skyline Conference, but have dropped the last four decisions, including a pair of overtime defeats during the 2014-15 season.
 
What's Next: Following Thursday's tilt, the Knights will stay on the road when they continue conference action at Purchase on Saturday. Tip-off with the Panthers on Saturday is scheduled for noon.
