Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team closed a busy weekend with a 140-56 Skyline Conference victory over Sarah Lawrence on Saturday afternoon. The Knights received two wins apiece from freshman
Robert Kohlus (Wading River, N.Y.) and junior
Jake Schoenherr (New Rochelle, N.Y.) in their third straight victory.

Following a strong swim on Friday in a pair of conference victories at Purchase, Schoenherr picked right up where he left off Saturday afternoon. He topped the field in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.47 seconds and later won the 100-yard freestyle race for the Knights in a time of 51.77 seconds.

Kohlus continued the strong stat to his freshman season for the Mount with wins in both the 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle. His initial win of the day came in 2:07.26 and he followed that up with a winning time of 5:23.32 in the freestyle race.

Kyle Barber (Shelton, Conn.) and
Ryan Ward (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also posted individual wins for the Knights on Saturday afternoon. Barber topped the field in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:48.19, with Ward winning the 200-yard freestyle race in 1:58.34. Each swimmer also posted a runner-up finish, with Barber's coming in the 200-yard butterfly and Ward's coming in the 500-yard freestyle.

Freshman
Peter O'Malley (Yonkers, N.Y.) was a third Knight with a win and a runner-up finish on Saturday, besting the competition in the 200-yard breaststroke and placing second in the 200-yard freestyle.
Michael Neugebauer (Newburgh, N.Y.) and
Steven Fejes (Stony Point, N.Y.) also turned in strong performances with a pair of second place finishes each.

The Knights continued their strong showings in the relay events against the Gryphons, winning both the 400-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle races. The Mount opened the meet with a win when Barber, Schoenherr, Kohlus and Ward posted a time of 3:59.10 and closed the day with a time of 3:45.00 from the team of Neugebauer,
Philippe Noisy (New York, N.Y.), Fejes and O'Malley.
Saturday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary back to the .500 mark at 4-4 overall on the season and to a perfect 4-0 against league rivals. The Knights will return to action on November 19 when they open competition at the two-day Diamond City Invitational in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
