Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) played the hero Wednesday night, scoring the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute to lead the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (1-1-0) to a 2-1 victory over Ramapo College (0-1-1) in the Knights' home opener at Kaplan Field. The win is also the first of new head coach

Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) on her second beautiful setup of the game. Ribadeneyra provided a wonderful cross in the 58th minute to help junior forward
Melissa Maini (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) score her first of the year and kick off the Knights' second-half comeback.
Ramapo's Nicole Ninomiya gave the Roadrunners the lead in the 34th minute after the visitors played a much stronger first half than the Knights. Things clicked at halftime for the home team, which came out firing in the second half to eventually tie the game and later take the lead.

Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) made nine saves to pick up her first collegiate victory. Taylor Marcialis allowed two goals and stopped one shot for the Roadrunners to shoulder the loss.
Segreto and Maini each succeeded on their lone shots on goal in Wednesday's victory. Ribadeneyra had her first big game in Knight Blue with assists on both goals.
Ramapo held a 13-11 edge in shots in the game, but the Knights took a second half advantage, 7-6. The Knights connected on 2-of-3 shots on goal, while Riley stopped nine of the 10 Ramapo shots that went on net.
The Knights get a weekend off before the get back to work on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when they head to Madison, N.J. to take on Fairleigh Dickinson-College at Florham. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
