Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's lacrosse team (3-6, 1-2 Skyline) was unable to overcome an early deficit as they fell to Farmingdale State College (6-3, 2-0 Skyline), 16-4, Saturday afternoon at Kaplan Field.
The Rams outscored the Knights, 7-0, in the opening quarter, providing them with the lead that they did not forfeit. Tom Rotanz and Ryan McArdle each tallied five points on the afternoon with four goals and one assist apiece. Philip Schaefer and Tyler Rifice each added three goals, with Schaefer adding two assists to reach five points.
Four different Knights picked up goals in Saturday's loss. Freshmen
Shaun McMahon (Commack, N.Y.),
Joseph Rizzotti (East Meadow, N.Y.) and
John Grillo (Staten Island, N.Y.) each scored in the second half. Grillo's goal was the first of his collegiate career. Sophomore midfielder
Sebastian Cina Jr. (Colts Neck, N.J.) buried his seventh goal of the year in the second quarter to first get the Knights on the board. Junior midfielder
Jake Robison (Franklin Square, N.Y.) grabbed the 101st and 102nd points of his career with a pair of assists on Saturday.
Thomas Fallon earned the win for Farmingdale State, making 11 saves and allowing four goals. Junior goalkeeper
Connor Haran (Massapequa, N.Y.) stopped nine shots, but allowed 15 goals to suffer the loss.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday, April 9, when they look to grab a conference win against Maritime College. The action is set to begin from Maritime at 7 p.m.
