PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – After starting the season 0-3, the Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse (2-3, 1-0 Skyline) has now won back-to-back games in blowout fashion, taking down SUNY College at Old Westbury (1-6, 0-1 Skyline), 18-5, in Skyline Conference action Saturday evening at Danzi Stadium on the campus of St. Joseph's College (L.I.).
Junior attack/midfielder
Danielle Krupka (Northport, N.Y.) turned in her second straight five-point game, scoring three goals and handing out a pair of assists to lead the Knights to victory. Five other Knights scored two goals in the game, and 10 total Knights scored at least once.
The Knights took control early and maintained it throughout the 60-minute affair. The Knights opened the game with the first five goals before the Panthers finally got on the board at the 11:38 mark. The Knights bounced back with another pair of goals, eventually taking an 8-3 lead into halftime.
The game got out of hand quickly in the second half, as the Knights strung together six goals in a four-minute span to go up 14-3. They added another at the 19:37 mark before the Panthers scored their first goal of the half. A pair of Mount women's soccer players, playing their first season with the women's lacrosse team, combined to score the next three goals for the Knights. Junior attack/midfielder
Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, N.Y.) hit the back of the net at the 11:17 mark, and then senior midfielder
Tara McDermott (Tewksbury, N.J.) scored two in two minutes to put the Knights up 18-4. Old Westbury got one more back before the clock hit triple zeroes, but it was not enough.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Deirdre Ray (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) stopped four shots in the winning effort on Saturday. Old Westbury's Jackie Cartagena suffered the loss after allowing 18 goals.

Katie McGinnis (Shelton, Conn.) and McDermott each netted two goals in Saturday's big win. Sophomore defender
Nicole Scicutella (Massapequa, N.Y.) led the Knights with four ground balls, adding a goal and an assist as well, and tied with McGinnis for the game high with three caused turnovers.
Maria Dischley scored two goals to lead the Panthers in their loss. Courtney Gallagher, Sara Bey and Meaghan Haber picked up the other three goals. Dischley and Jordan Schildt matched for the team lead with four ground balls.
The Knights fired off 35 shots on Saturday, compared to just 14 for the Panthers. They picked up 22 ground balls to 16 for the Panthers. They also held a 17-8 edge in draw controls.
The Knights' next scheduled game against Green Mountain College on Tuesday, March 25, has been postponed, so the Knights will next play on Saturday, March 29, at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference matchup. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
