Box Score

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team (0-2) dropped its first home game of the season to the State University of New York at New Paltz (1-0), 16-9, at Kaplan Field Tuesday evening.

New Paltz was led by a pair of six-goal scorers in Talia Tesler and Lianne Valdivia. The game was close early on, as freshman attacker Katie Gattoni's (Old Tappan, N.J.) second goal of the game at 13:29 cut the Hawks' lead to 4-3. Sophomore midfielder Katie McGinnis (Shelton, Conn.) kicked off the second-half scoring with an unassisted netter at the 27:20 mark. New Paltz took the momentum right back, scoring the next five goals to put the game out of reach. The Hawks went on to outscore the Knights, 8-5, in the second half to earn the 16-9 victory.

In addition to Tesler and Valdivia's six-goal efforts, Carissa Citro picked up four points for the Hawks with a goal and three assists. Fatima Ismail also put in a multi-point game with a goal and an assist.

Gattoni finished up with five goals for the Knights, improving her two-game total to eight scores. Sophomore defender Claire Duffy (Monroe, N.Y.) scored a pair and tied for the team-high with four ground balls.

Jackie Ulanoff picked up the win for the Hawks, making nine saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Deirdre Ray (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) stopped 15 shots, but suffered the loss after allowing 16 goals.
