Box Score

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's basketball team (12-4, 8-1 Skyline) shot 60 percent (33-of-55) from the field en route to a 88-58 Skyline Conference victory over Yeshiva University (4-8, 2-5 Skyline) Thursday evening at the Kaplan Center.

Senior forward Chris Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) led the way, shooting 7-of-8 from the field for 20 points on the evening. He added six boards and four assists to his effort. Senior guard Joe Stabach (Staten Island, N.Y.) made 7-of-12 shots for 16 points, and senior guard Donte Howell (Baldwin, N.Y.) banked 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, dishing out eight assists as well.

The Knights opened the game on an 11-2 run to take a lead they would not forfeit for the entirety of the game. They built their lead to 19 late in the first frame, but a buzzer-beating three from Yeshiva's Eytan Potash sent the Knights into the locker room with a 41-25 lead.

The Maccabees caught fire out of the break, pressuring the Knights on every possession and seemingly making every shot they attempted in the early minutes of the second half. An 11-0 run capped off by a Pisciotta three-point play put the Knights up 26 with under 10 minutes to play, giving the Knights the momentum and advantage they needed to effectively ice the game.

The Maccabees were led by Yisrael Feld, who scored 18 points on Thursday. Shlomo Weissberg followed with 12 points and led the Macs with eight rebounds.

Senior forward Joe Henain (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) registered two blocked shots in Thursday's win, leaving him just two blocks shy of the program career record of 161.

The Knight's 60-percent shooting effort included 50 percent (9-of-18) success rate from beyond the arc. The Mount dominated the paint with a 42-26 scoring edge. The Knight bench also put in a stellar effort with 30 points.

The Knights return to action on Saturday, Jan. 25, when they travel to Farmingdale State College for a crucial Skyline matchup. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
