BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Mount Saint Mary College scored the final seven goals on Tuesday afternoon as the Knights rallied for an 11-9 victory over Bryn Athyn College in non-conference action. The Knights move back to even on the year at 6-6, while Bryn Athyn drops down to 1-6.
Trailing 9-4 nearly five minutes into the third quarter, the Knights woke up. Senior
Andrew Pullen (Farmingdale, N.Y.) netted back-to-back goals, the second on a man-up assist from sophomore
Jake Robison (Franklin Square, N.Y.). Junior
Matt O'Donnell (Wallkill, N.Y.) closed the quarter with consecutive goals as the Mount drew to within one goal at 9-8.
With Bryn Athyn desperately clinging to the one-goal advantage, it took until the 7:21 mark of the fourth quarter for the Knights to break through with the tying goal. O'Donnell put home an unassisted man-up goal to make it 9-9. A little more than a minute later, senior NIck Findlay (Elmont, N.Y.) put home the go-ahead goal on a feed from Pullen. Findlay added an insurance goal at the 5:23 mark and the Knights held on down the stretch for the 11-9 victory.
Pullen and O'Donnell each finished with four goals, but Pullen added an assist to lead the team with five points. Findlay chipped in with four points on two goals and a pair of assits. Robison tallied a pair of assists, while freshman
Sebastian Cina Jr. (Colts Neck, N.J.) added a first half goal to round out the scoring for the Knights.
Sophomore
Connor Haran (Massapequa, N.Y.) made seven saves to earn the win.
Both teams struggled with turnovers, as the Knights committed 25 to Bryn Athyn's 35. The home team held a 47-26 advantage in groundballs and an 18-6 edge on faceoffs.
Mount Saint Mary returns to Skyline Conference play on Saturday with a trip to Kean University. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Union, New Jersey.
