NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Montclair State University outscored Mount Saint Mary College 15-3 in the opening half on the way to a 19-8 victory in Skyline Conference action on Saturday afternoon.  The Red Hawks improved to 13-3 overall (9-1 Skyline), while the Knights dropped to 10-7 overall (6-4 Skyline).
The Red Hawks opened with the first three goals, but Mount senior 
Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y.) broke up the early run with an unassisted goal at 25:35.  Montclair answered just 27 seconds later, but sophomore 
Danielle Krupka (Northport, N.Y.) found the back of the net to allow the Knights to keep pace.
Montclair senior Kailee Beal (Succasunna, N.J.) scored the next three goals of the game, sparking a 9-0 run for the Red Hawks that sent them to a 13-2 advantage.  Mount sophomore 
Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y.) snapped the streak with a goal at the 5:43 mark, but Montclair sophomore Tierney Conlon (Caldwell, N.J.) closed out the half with back-to-back goals to give the visitors a 15-3 lead at the break.
The Knights were much improved in the second half.  The teams traded goals to open the period, but then the Mount strung together three straight goals to claw to within nine.  The Red Hawks scored the next two to put the game away, but the Knights would actually hold a 5-4 advantage over the course of the final 30 minutes.
Spadaro led the Knights with three goals and an assist, while junior 
Erica Massmann (West Babylon, N.Y.) added a pair of goals.  Igdeler and Krupka each finished with a goal and an assist.
Beal and Conlon each totaled eight points for Montclair State.  Beal's effort game via six goals and two assists, while Conlon's total resulted from four goals and four assists.  Junior Kelly Schoneveld (Denville, N.J.) added four goals and sophomore Jenna Bussiere (Dayton, N.J.) contributed three goals and an assist.
Mount Saint Mary qualifies as the fifth seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament and will take on fourth-seeded Kean University in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
