Knights Rally Past Mount Saint Vincent

Box Score

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Facing a three-goal deficit at the end of three quarters, Mount Saint Mary College rallied for five consecutive goals and held on for a 12-11 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action Wednesday evening.  The Knights improve to 7-7 overall and remain alive in the Skyline playoff hunt with a record of 2-3.

Mount Saint Mary scored the opening goal of the second half to take a 7-6 advantage, but Mount Saint Vincent answered with the next four and led 10-7 at the end of three.  Sophomore David Hobbs (Baldwin, N.Y.) started the rally with 11:03 remaining, putting home a feed from senior Nick Findlay (Elmont, N.Y.)  Less than two minutes later, sophomore Henry Schof (Montgomery, N.Y.) brought the Knights to within one when he finished off a pass from sophomore Jake Robison (Franklin Square, N.Y.).

With 6:23 remaining, Robison found junior Matt O'Donnell for the tying goal.  Findlay put the Knights on top with an unassisted goal at the 3:51 mark and O'Donnell padded the lead when he scored off an assist from Hobbs with 2:21 to play.  The Dolphins got back to within one on a goal at the 1:44 mark, but the Knights were able to fend off the last minute challenge and walked off with the 12-11 victory.

Findlay and Robison each finished with five points, Findlay on three goals and two assists and Robison on two goals and three assists.  O'Donnell totaled four shots, all of which found the back of the net.  Junior Ray Bednarczyk (Carmel, N.Y.) led the team with two caused turnovers and eight groundballs.  Sophomore Connor Haran (Massapequa, N.Y.) made 11 saves to claim the victory.

The Knights close out the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Richard Stockton.  The winner of Saturday's game claims the fourth and final spot in the Skyline Conference tournament.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Galloway, New Jersey.
