Strong First Half Propels Knights Past Mount Saint Vincent

Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Mount Saint Mary College opened with the first eight goals and never looked back on Saturday afternoon, going on to an 18-8 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action.  The Knights improve to 10-5 overall (6-2 Skyline).

Sophomores Danielle Krupka (Northport, N.Y.), Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y.), and Nicole Cacioppo (Glen Cove, N.Y.) each scored a pair of goals during the opening 8-0 run.  Senior Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y.) added three goals over the final 17 minutes of the first half as the Knights opened up a 13-3 advantage at the half.  Sophomore Katy Cartelli (Yorktown, N.Y.) found the back of the net twice in the second half as the Knights closed out an 18-8 victory.

Spadaro finished with a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists.  Igdeler and Krupka each totaled three goals and an assist.

Spadaro, along with fellow seniors Katie Gerdts (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and Erin Murray (Floral Park, N.Y.) were honored in a Senior Day ceremony at half time.

The Knights return to action on Wednesday when they host St. Joseph's College.  Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. on Kaplan Field.
