Mount Falls To SUNYIT

Box Score

MARCY, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College missed a chance to move above the .500 mark on Monday evening, falling in non-conference action to previously winless SUNYIT by a final score of 11-7.  The Knights drop to 4-5 overall, while the Wildcats move to 1-9.

The Mount fell into an early two-goal hole, but closed the first half on a 4-1 run and led 5-4 at the break.  Sophomore David Hobbs (Baldwin, N.Y.) and senior Andrew Pullen (Farmingdale, N.Y.) both tallied a pair of first half goals.

Sophomore Henry Schof (Montgomery, N.Y.) opened the second half with back-to-back goals as the Knights seized a three-goal lead.  Sophomore Jake Robison (Franklin Square, N.Y.) found Schof on a man-up opportunity with 7:32 remaining in the third to make the score, 7-4.

Unfortunately, it would be the last time the Knights would find the net.  SUNYIT rattled off five straight goals in a span of six minutes to close the third quarter and added a pair of fourth quarter markers to make the final score, 11-7.  The Mount was plagued by eight penalties in the second half, resulting in four man-up goals for the Wildcats.

Robison led the Knights with three assists, while Pullen, Hobbs, and Schof finished with three goals apiece.  Junior Matt O'Donnell (Wallkill, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Mount.

The Knights will look to get back on track this Wednesday as they take on SUNY Canton.  The game will be played at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York with a start time of 1:45 p.m.
