Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Following a 2-2 start, Farmingdale State College scored seven of the next eight goals and went on to an 18-9 victory over Mount Saint Mary College in Skyline Conference action Thursday night. The Rams improve to 4-2 overall (2-0 Skyline), while the Knights drop to 5-2 (1-1 Skyline).
With her team leading 4-3 near the midpoint of the first half, Farmingdale sophomore Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal to spark a 5-0 run for the Rams. Mount junior
Nicole Palmieri (Elwood, N.Y.) finally broke up the run, but Farmingdale sophomore Alyssa Mandel (Medford, N.Y.) responded with the next two goals and helped the Rams seize a 12-4 edge at the half.
Farmingdale scored the opening four goals of the second half, including two from freshman Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.), to put the game out of reach at 16-4. The Knights got back to within nine on a goal from freshman
Nicole Scicutella (Massapequa, N.Y.) with 12:12 remaining, but they would get no closer.
Sophomore
Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y.) led the Mount with two goals and two assists, while Spadaro and Palmieri added two goals each.
Handel totaled three goals and an assist, while sophomore Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) matched her team-high four points with two goals and two assists. Senior Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) added a hat trick for the Rams.
The Knights host Old Westbury in Skyline Conference action at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
