HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior guard Joe Stabach (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored 17 second-half points to lead the Mount Saint Mary College men's basketball team (6-3) to a 68-61 victory over Centenary College (N.J.) (2-8) Monday evening at the John Reeves Center.

Stabach shot 4-of-6 from long distance in the second frame to push his evening total to a team-high 22 points. Senior forward Joe Henain (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) picked up his fifth double-double of the season, banking 12 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Senior guard Anthony Cipriano (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc to score a season-high 15 points.

The Knights never trailed in Monday's non-conference affair, as they quickly took an 11-2 lead and kept the home team at a safe distance for most of the game. The Cyclones rallied at the end of the first half, scoring the final seven points before the break to cut the deficit to five points at 30-25 heading into the locker room.

After Centenary scoring the first two points of the second frame, the Knights went on a 9-0 run to push their lead back to double digits. A 17-4 run to open the half put the Knights up 47-29 for their largest lead of the game. The Cyclones put together a string of baskets in the final few minutes of the game, and were helped back into it when the Knights missed multiple free throws. Stabach made 3-of-4 free throws in the final 17 seconds to hold off the home team's rally and secure the seven-point victory.

Centenary's Joshua Case put in a strong effort, scoring 13 points and grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds. Zachary Duymich scored 11 off the bench for the Cyclones, while Clayton Roker and Tim Brix eached contributed 10.

The Knights proved to be the better scorers in the paint, outscoring their hosts, 28-18 in the color. Centenary held a 40-36 edge in rebounding on the evening. The Knights managed to shoot 50 percent (10-of-20) from three-point range, while the Cyclones made just 27.8 percent (5-of-18) of their threes.

The Knights next play in the new calendar year when they take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action in Riverdale, N.Y. Tip-off for the Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, matchup is set for 3 p.m.
