Knights Clobber St. Joseph’s

Box Score

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Behind a second straight double-double from junior Chris Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.), Mount Saint Mary College routed St. Joseph's College, 102-45, in a Skyline Conference game on Thursday evening.  The Knights (11-6 overall, 8-3 Skyline) have now won four straight.

Leading by seven after the opening ten minutes, Mount Saint Mary stretched away with a 9-0 run.  Pisciotta had a pair of buckets during the run and senior Ryan Straub (Massapequa, N.Y.) canned a three as the Knights claimed a 16-point advantage.

Still in the first half, the Knights pieced together a 13-0 to take complete control of the game.  A fast break layup from junior Donte Howell (Baldwin, N.Y.) with 3:40 remaining made it 43-16 and forced the Golden Eagles to take a timeout.  Mount Saint Mary led, 48-22, at the break.

The second half was much of the same.  Junior Joe Stabach (Staten Island, N.Y.) made a bucket in the paint, junior Joe Henain (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) dunked a pretty feed from Stabach, and Stabach followed with a three to cap a 7-0 run.  The lead extended to as many as 59 on a three-pointer from freshman Stephen Steyer (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 50 seconds remaining.

It was a near perfect night for Pisciotta, who hit on 9-of-10 from the field for a game-high 20 points.  He also grabbed 11 rebounds to complete his second straight double-double.  Stabach added 13 points and five assists, while Howell pitched in with 12 points.  Straub and junior AJ Uhl (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) each hit three three-pointers and finished with 11 points, while Steyer joined them in double figures with a career-high 10.

Senior Kevin Donovan (East Northport, N.Y.) was the only Golden Eagle in double figures with 11.  St. Joseph's shot 25.8-percent from the floor and connected on just 4-of-28 from three.

The Knights look to continue their winning streak on Saturday with a road trip to NYU-Poly.  The game is set for a 2:00 p.m. tip in Brooklyn.
