Offensive Outburst Leads Knights Past Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – The Knights rebounded from back-to-back Skyline Conference losses with a 23-5 win over Wells College on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Mount improves to 4-7, while the Express falls to 2-5.

Mount junior Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y.) netted six goals in the first half to help the Knights to a 16-4 advantage at the break. The pace of scoring slowed in the second half, as the Knights outscored the Express 7-1. In a well-rounded offensive effort, six Knights added goals in the second half.

Spadaro led all scorers with six goals and four assists. Sophomores Erica Massman (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Mikaely Whitehouse (Columbia, Conn.) recorded multiple point games with four goals and two goals and an assist, respectively. Both freshman Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Nicole Palmieri (East Northport, N.Y.) added hat tricks, while Igdeler also dished out three assists. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Beltrami (Islip, N.Y.) made four saves to earn the win in cage.

The Knights return to action on Tuesday, April 10, as they host Roberts Wesleyan. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
