FISHKILL, N.Y. - The teams combined for 34 hits and 30 runs on Wednesday afternoon, with Mount Saint Mary College eventually prevailing over Vassar College by a final score of 16-14. The Knights improve to 14-10 with the victory.
Trailing 7-1 after three innings, Mount Saint Mary dug out of the hole with multiple runs in each of the next four innings. In the fourth, a two-run triple from senior
Brian McNoble (Lynbrook, N.Y.) brought the Knights back to within four at 7-3.
Vassar added a run in the top of the fifth, but MSMC stormed back with seven runs to take a 10-8 advantage. Junior

Alex Velardi (Branford, Conn.), who had already scored earlier in the frame, followed with an RBI single to give the Knights the lead. To close the inning, Matuk drew a bases-loaded walk for his second RBI of the frame.
Not to be outdone, the Brewers hung five runs on the board in the top of the sixth and led 13-10. In the bottom of the sixth, the Knights scratched out two runs on a sac fly from
Brian McNoble and an RBI single from sophomore

Trailing 13-12, MSMC snagged the lead once again with four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Carminati doubled home the first run of the inning and then scored along with Morelli when
Brian McNoble doubled. McNoble moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Chieffo single to give the Knights a 16-13 lead.
The Knights conceded one run in the top of the eighth, but junior relief pitcher
Joe CoFrancesco (Hamden, Conn.) entered the game in the ninth to close the door. CoFrancesco walked two, but struck out the first and last batters of the inning to preserve the two-run victory. CoFrancesco was awarded the save, while sophomore
