NEWBURGH, N.Y. – It was the tale of two halves, as the Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team outscored Maritime College 7-1 in the second half to earn a 15-9 win over the Privateers. The win pushes the Knights to 5-9 on the year and 2-4 in Skyline play. With the loss the Privateers drop to 1-8 overall and 0-6 in the Skyline.
On Senior Day it was only fitting that Mount senior

Maritime sophomore Megan White (Simsbury, Conn.) deposited on a free position shot just two minutes later and both teams exchanged the next six goals. With the game deadlocked, 4-4, and 17:30 on the clock, Maritime senior Natalie Jackson (Stockton, Cali.) scored to give the Privateers their first lead of the day.
The Mount countered with back-to-back goals of their own by freshman
Danielle Krupka (King's Park, N.Y.) and junior
Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y.) to move ahead by one, 6-5. An unassisted goal by Maritime senior Kristine Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y.) followed to tie things up again. Krupka and Spadaro added consecutive goals with under ten minutes to play to give the Knights an 8-6 lead, but Maritime scored two goals in the closing three minutes to make it 8-8 at the half.
Less than three minutes into the second half, Mount sophomore
Mikaely Whitehouse (Columbia, Conn.) converted a free position shot to give the Knights the lead and Spadaro's third of the day a minute later extended their lead to two, 8-6. The Knights added the next four goals of the game, before Saporito answered for the Privateers with 4:29 remaining in the game. In the final two minutes, Mount sophomore
Nicole Palmieri (East Northport, N.Y.) wrapped around the crease and fired a shot into the net to account for the final score, 15-9.
Spadaro led all scorers with five goals, while Krupka and Palmieri each added two. Senior
Kate Wynne (Franklin Square, N.Y.), freshman
Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y.), freshman
Nicole Cacioppo (Glen Cove, N.Y.), sophomore
Erica Massmann (West Babylon, N.Y.), Whitehouse and Cashin all contributed lone goals in the win. In net, freshman
