FISHKILL, N.Y. - Limited to just five hits in game one and three hits in game two, the Mount Saint Mary College baseball team lost a pair of Skyline Conference games to Farmingdale State College on Saturday. The Rams won the opener, 5-0, and game two, 12-1.
The Knights struck out ten times in game one and only sophomore
Vinnie Carminati (Huntington, N.Y.) came away with multiple hits. Carminati finished 2-for-4, but was left on the bases both times.
Freshman
Brandon Lubrano (Mineola, N.Y.) worked six innings and allowed six hits to go along with three earned runs. Sophomore Mike Klein (Elmont, N.Y.) allowed just one hit over the final three innings, but by then, the Farmingdale damage had already been done.
In game two, the Mount cut a 2-0 deficit in half with one run in the third inning. With runners at first and second, Carminati singled, allowing senior
John Conroy (Middletown, N.Y.) to score from second.
The momentum would be short-lived, as Farmingdale answered with one run in the fourth, two in the fifth, six in the sixth, and one more in the seventh for a 12-1 victory.
Carminati, along with Conroy and freshman
Alex Velardi (Branford, Conn.), provided the only hits of the game for MSMC.
Up next for the Knights is a road trip to St. Joseph's College. A Skyline double-header is scheduled for noon in Patchogue.
