MONTCLAIR, N.J.  –  The Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team suffered a 20-5 defeat at the hands of Montclair State University on Thursday evening. The loss drops the Knights to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in conference play. With the win, the Red Hawks move to 8-4 on the year and 4-1 in the Skyline.
Montclair wasted little time taking the lead, as they scored the first five goals of the game with under ten minutes elapsed. Mount junior
Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y.) got the Knights on the board at the 20:26 mark with an unassisted tally to make it a 5-1 game.
The Red Hawks responded with another goal, however back-to-back goals by Mount freshman
Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y.) and Spadaro brought the Knights to within three, 6-3.
Montclair closed out the final nineteen minutes of the first half on a 7-0 to extend their lead to ten, 13-3, at the break.
The start of the second half was eerily familiar to the first, as the Red Hawks opened up play with a 5-0 run. Trailing by 15, Spadaro stopped the run with her third of the night at the 12:26 mark. Both teams remained scoreless, until Igdeler added her second of the night nearly seven minutes after Spadaro's goal. In the closing minutes of the game, Montclair freshman Tierney Conlon (Caldwell, N.J.) and senior Cora Delfini (New Egypt, N.J.) added their third and fourth goals, respectively to close out the scoring.
Spadaro recorded the hat trick in the loss, while Igdeler added two goals. Mount senior
Ellen Cashin (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) was credited with two assists and freshman goalie
Lauren Beltrami (Islip, N.Y.) made five saves.

Junior goalkeeper Tiffani Henderson (Landing, N.J.) stopped eight shots to earn the win.
