Knights Ousted in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team dropped its only game during the Spring Break trip, falling 20-11 to Keene State in West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday afternoon.The Knights are still seeking their first win of the season with an 0-4 record, while the Owls improve to 2-1. 

The Owls jumped ahead by three in the early minutes of play, but  Mount goal to make it a 3-1 game put the brakes on Keene State's run. Another 3-0 run by the Owls gave them a 6-1 lead and by the break they held a convincing 14-4 lead. The Knights were not able to catch up and eventually fell by a score of 20-11. 

Mount sophomore Amanda Giarrizzo (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and freshman Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y.) combined for six goals, each adding hat tricks. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Beltrami (Islip, N.Y.) made eight saves in the loss.

Keene State junior Lauren Brown (Agawan, Mass.) led all scorers with five goals, while sophomore Eliza Witherbree (Newburyport, Mass.) followed with four goals. Sophomore Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) and junior Christine Collins (Chesire, Conn.) split time in the cage, making a total of five saves. 

The Knights will face former Skyline Conference opponent, Bard College on Wednesday, March 21. The game will be played at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, New York and is set to begin at 8:00 p.m.
