FISHKILL, N.Y. – A seven-run fourth inning boosted Mount Saint Mary College to a non-conference win on Thursday as the Knights went on to defeat John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 13-10. The win moves the Mount back above the .500 mark at 13-12.
After yielding a pair of runs in the first inning, the Knights responded with three runs in the third, seven runs in the fourth, and three more runs in the fifth to take a 13-3 advantage.
Sophomore
Paul Cherubino (Middletown, N.Y.) led off the fourth with a single and scored when junior
Brian McNoble (Lynbrook, N.Y.) doubled to right-center. McNoble scored easily on a double from sophomore

Louis Peisel (Brewster, N.Y.) drilled a two-run double to left-center that gave the Knights a 10-3 advantage.
The Knights added three more in the fifth, taking full advantage of a pair of leadoff walks. Clarke drove home the first run of the inning on an infield error and then Tecce singled to center to make it 12-3. Senior
Billy Casey (Marlboro, N.Y.) capped the inning with a run-scoring double to left-center to give the Knights a 10-run cushion.
John Jay would attempt a comeback with two runs in the sixth, three runs in the eighth, and three more in the ninth, but the Bloodhounds ran out of innings, ultimately making the final score, 13-10.
Four Knights finished with multi-hit efforts. Clarke wound up 2-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs, while Tecce was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs.
Thomas McNoble had two hits in four at-bats and went on to score three runs while driving in another. Cherubino finished 2-for-5 with a run scored.
Junior pitcher
Carl Henchey (Coxsackie, N.Y.) settled in nicely after a tough first frame and worked the first five innings for the Knights. He allowed just four hits and two runs while striking out four and claiming the victory.
The Knights will face first-place St. Joseph's College in a Skyline Conference double-header on Saturday at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill.
