NEW LONDON, CONN.-The Mount Saint Mary College men's lacrosse dropped a non-conference game to Mitchell College by a score of 13-6. The loss moves the Knights to 2-7 on the season while Mitchell improves to 4-1.
Freshman
Stephen White (Schenectady, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game at the 8:30 mark to get the Knights on the scoreboard. Mitchell quickly responded with two goals to gain a 2-1 lead. Sophomore
Andrew Pullen (Farmingdale, N.Y.) buried a feed from junior #Patrick Byrne3 (Milford, Conn.) to even the score (2-2) at the conclusion of the first quarter.
The Knights started off strong in the second quarter thanks to a goal by freshman Matt O'Donnell (Wallkill, N.Y.) less than one minute into play. Three consecutive goals by the Mount in the middle of the second quarter gave the Knights a 6-3 lead. Sophomore
Nick Findlay (Elmont, N.Y.) tallied two goals and Pullen contributed the third during the run. Mitchell went on to score four consecutive goals in the second quarter and they possessed a 7-6 lead going into halftime.
The Knights would not score in the second half of play and a four goal third quarter by Mitchell sealed the victory for the Mariners. Mitchell scored the final nine goals of the game for the 13-6 victory.
Findlay finished the game with two goals and one assist, while White netted one goal and dished out two assists. Pullen tallied two goals, picked up a team-high nine groundballs and went 4-9 at the faceoff. Byrne led the defensive effort, causing two turnovers and scooping up five groundballs. The Knights will open Skyline play on Saturday against Farmingdale. The game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Farmingdale State College.
